Nasim Aghdam, 39, has been identified as being the person responsible for shooting three people at YouTube headquarters. YouTube, which is located in San Bruno, California, caused a media stir on Monday morning after news of a mass shooting occurred on the company sprawling campus. Over 1,1000 people work at the YouTube campus, many of whom work in engineering and sales. The San Bruno Police department’s investigation has rendered more information on the woman behind the shooting. Aghdam is a YouTuber that has been outraged recently over censorship of her video content on the hugely popular platform. According to CNN, Aghdam has several YouTube channels in various languages: Farsi, Turkish, and one in English. She also has a separate channel showcasing her hand art. Recently, Aghdam aired out her grievances with YouTube over their censorship and monetization policies. “There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!” one post reads. “Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!” Also, she accused YouTube employees of being “close-minded” for placing age restrictions on videos, which ultimately reduce views and discourage her from making new videos. Her brother told CNN affiliate KGTV that he warned the police – over the weekend – that Aghdam may do something. The concern started when Aghdam stopped answering her phone. Aghdam traveled from San Diego and was found 700 miles northwest in Mountain View, California. “I Googled ‘Mountain View,’ and it was close to YouTube headquarters. And she had a problem with YouTube,” said Aghdam’s brother, who did not want to be identified. So he called police to say “she went all the way from San Diego, so she might do something.” That fear turned into reality Tuesday afternoon when Aghdam shot three people at the YouTube campus in San Bruno before killing herself with a handgun.
