2008-2009 Shoe Trends: HEELS admin Sunday, June 15, 2008 The Runway, Trendsetters What goes around comes around, that’s what is said. In the fashion industry that is one clichés that has certainly proven to be true. From bellbottoms and skinny jeans to platforms and mary janes, here’s a look at what is coming up next in one of our favorite fashion categories… SHOES! What’s in a Heel…..Tapered, Chunky, Stiletto? The higher they are, the sexier they look. However, if comfort is what you are going for, this is not the shoe. You may get a little more comfort out of the “hybrid” platform stiletto: a hidden platform in the top part of the shoe, with a super-tall stiletto. Balenciaga, Chado Ralph Rucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and DSquared2 are just a few designers of the elegant, and sexy stiletto. Never fear, the return of the stiletto will in no way stifle those thick and chunky heels we’ve just invested in – that have dominated the past few seasons. Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Marni, Chanel are major design houses that make the most of the Platforms that are much better to walk in. Tapered heels on the other hand offer a different spin starting thick and tapering down into a stiletto-esque point. You can find them by designers such as Burberry Prorsum, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Zac Posen. While the tapered heel is sexy, interesting and modern, I would only buy them if I intend to get a lot of wear out of them. Where to find: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales
