2008 – 2009 Shoe Trends: STYLES admin Monday, June 30, 2008 The Runway, Trendsetters We’ve talked about heels – the tapered, the chunky and the ever-loving stiletto; and toes – squared, pointed and the back-in-style open toes with tights. Now let’s bring it all together and see what styles have been making strides on the runways for the upcoming fall/winter season. Above the knee boots are a hot item and are most popular in heeled versions paired with suede material. The have become a very trendy look with jeans or pants. Then we have the adorable lace-up shoes and boots in a variety of styles and heights. We have certainly seen quite a few celebs rocking these as of late. The Mary Janes come in a variety of looks – buckles, straps, bright colors and fabrics, pointed toes and high-heeled. Quality skin is in and that includes the alligator, crocodile, lizard, and snake. Reptile skins are making tracks in many well known fashion houses – Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Derek Lam, Cavalli, and YSL to name a few. Fringed boots – worn with bare legs or tights in a casual outfit can add a sexy ruffian charm. They have a look that is folk-inspired with an ethnic twist. The most popular are the studded and tooled leather designs by Gucci, Balmain, and Anna Sui. Colors from bold brights to classic shades of grey and black were also found on the Autumn/Winter runways of major fashion houses. You can add colour ans style to pretty much anything.
