Well the mystery has been solved. Every since CSI’s star William Petersen announced his departure, the network has been scrambling to find a new star for the show. After weeks of toying with the idea, they’ve decided that Laurence Fishburne is their man. Fishburne’s character make his debut during the 9th episode of the upcoming season as a forensics scientist with a secret. “I am elated and delighted to be joining the cast of `CSI’,” Fishburne said in a statement, adding that he looked forward to a “wonderful collaboration” with those involved in the series.

This should be a good fit for Fishburne whose played a variety of roles throughout his career. CSI’s new season is set to premeire Oct. 9.
