According to the New York Times, Oprah Winfrey has signed an exclusive 3-year deal with HBO to develop new shows beginning this year. Winfrey will produce series, films, and documentaries for HBO under Harpo Films, a programming division of Winfrey’s production company.

This deal is not a first for Winfrey. Harpo Films has produced television movies for the ABC network under the name “Oprah Winfrey Presents” for the past 11 years. She is also in the process of launching her own cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network, next year.
