Although the picture is funny, the fact that Jaceyon “The Game” Taylor is potentially facing a $1.5 million lawsuit is no laughing matter.

In 2007, after leaving a local city basketball game, the plaintiff, Shannon Rodrick, alleges that The Game punched and threatened him with a gun.

Pro-amateur coach Rodrick’s suit alleges assault and battery, negligence and civil rights violations. Six days after filing the original lawsuit in March 2008, Roddrick filed an amended complaint, but Taylor did not reply.

Moore said she tried once before to get a default judgment against Taylor, but dropped that effort because of the need to serve him with the amended complaint, which court records show was presented to him by a process server on Jan. 30.

According to the suit, Taylor was playing on a City Hoops team, Litem-up, that was losing in double figures to the Blazers, being coached by Rodrick, at the Rita Walters Learning Complex in South Los Angeles on Feb. 24, 2007.

Taylor allegedly approached Rodrick during a timeout and said: “Your team is garbage” and “You guys are nothing but a bunch of busters,” the suit states.

When Rodrick turned around to acknowledge Taylor, the rapper allegedly punched him with a close fist to his left cheek, causing the coach to fall backwards, the suit states.

Taylor, 29, left and got a gun from his car, telling Rodrick, who followed him outside, “I’m going to blast this fool,” the suit states.

Rodrick ran back into the gym and hid until Taylor left the gym, the suit states.

Both parties are scheduled for their next court appearance on April 22.
