If you weren’t tuned in to last night’s NCAA Championship Game between the Michigan State Spartans and the North Carolina Tar Heels, as promised STACKS Magazine has game highlights and the winning results for you.

And the winner is……The North Carolina Tarheels!!!

The 40-minute battle which was predicted to be one of fierce man-to-man action turned out to be more like a David & Goliath type of affair or to be more precise…a complete drag session. With a score of 89-72, undeniable domination in the paint and control of the board throughout the entire game, it’s clear that the Tar Heels are the NCAA giants of the year. Finding their rhythm early and capitalizing on the Spartans’ numerous turnovers (21 to be exact) as well as point guard Ty Lawson’s record seven steals, the Tar Heels proved they were the best, earning their 5th championship title.

Here’s a few of FOX Sports highlights of the game:

North Carolina’s Ellington had a double-pump scoop layup and a 3-pointer and Hansbrough spotted up and sank a 14-foot jumper – all in the first 4:25 to put Carolina ahead 17-7.

The Tar Heels were up 55-34 at halftime, breaking a 42-year-old title-game record for biggest lead at the break and setting the mark for most points at the half.

Michigan State pulled within 13 a couple times late in the second half, and the crowd of 72,922 – mostly pulling for the Spartans – tried to make some noise.

Goran Suton led the Spartans with 17 points, and Kalin Lucas, the Big Ten player of the year, had 14.

Needless to say, the Tar Heels showed up and showed out! Congratulations to the 2009 NCCA Champions!
