What's Up with Mychael Knight? admin Sunday, August 2, 2009 The Runway via press release: Atlanta, Ga – July 28, 2009 – The “once in a lifetime” opportunity has come again! Mychael Knight will make his return as one of eight designers on Project Runway’s All-Star Challenge. The 2-hour special will premiere on it’s new home network, Lifetime, August 20 at 8pm ET. The season 3 finalist and first ever Fan Favorite will compete for a $100,000 cash prize against Daniel Vosovic & Santion Rice (season 2), his seasons cast mates Jeffery Sebelia & Uli Herzner, Chris March & Sweet P (season 4) and season 5’s Korto Momolu. Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors, & Nina Garcia all return to determine who will be “in” or who will be “out”. Since his successful run on season 3 of “Project Runway”, Mychael Knight has been diligently claiming his place in the fashion industry. In addition to being sought after from celebrities such as Patti LaBelle, Jennifer Hudson, Keri Hilson, and Kim Porter, his designs have been displayed in a variety of print publications including Allure, Atlanta PEACH, Upscale, Ebony, Black Enterprise and The New York Times. His detailed design aesthetic has also been beseeched from such corporations as Starbucks, Louis Glick, GlaxoSmithKline, TJMaxx, Nike, and Coca-Cola. While simultaneously working on his label which bears his namesake, he introduced Majk, his signature unisex fragrance; Monsieur, a men’s furnishings label; and Kitty’s Litter, a burlesque performance group. His fashion savvy has also reached beyond the runway. In 2006 and 2007, he was a fashion commentator for the BET Hip Hop Awards and the BET Awards as well as 3 year staple juror for SCAD Style. Even with a full plate of projects, Mychael Knight continuously travels the country; lecturing at universities, motivating and inspiring design students, lending his voice and designs to charities, and being a commanding fashion presence for industry events and organizations.
