In honor of their African ancestry and in an effort to pay homage to the roots of reggae and hip hop music, rapper Nas and reggae artist Damian Marley are teaming up to release a new album. “Distant Relatives” was written by both artists and with the use of rock guitars, world music percussion, hip hop beats and traditional African instruments is a true mix of both genres. The album will feature guest appearances from other artists such as rapper Lil Wayne and singer Joss Stone. Marley handled the production with the help of his older brother Stephen.

The two will also launch a worldwide tour which kicks off this Friday in California. Other stops include the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee and Paris, Rotterdam, Manchester and Dublin.
