After recently appearing in “The Karate Kid” and already being set to star in the upcoming drama “The Good Doctor” and the Tom Hanks-directed comedy “Larry Crowne”, it’s apparent that actress Taraji P. Henson is on the move.

Her next stop…”From the Rough”!

It was recently announced that Henson will play a role inspired by the first female head coach of a NCAA Division 1 men’s team, Dr. Catana Starks in the upcoming sports drama. In the film, Henson will play a fictionalized version of Starks named Cassandra Turner, who parlays a successful stint as coach of the women’s swim team at a historically black college into a shot at building the men’s golf team. With available black players scarce, Turner scours Europe, Australia and Asia for hidden talents and constructs a uniquely multi-racial team.

“From the Rough” director and producer, Pierre Bagley says the films “explores one’s ability to transform life’s rough circumstances into distinct advantages. It confronts issues of race, gender, class and cultural barriers in ways that are provocative, and sometimes hilarious.”

Filming begins in early October in New Orleans.
