Drake Wins Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Award janda Tuesday, June 21, 2011 The Studio Becoming the first hip hop artist to do so, Cash Money’s Drake recently received the Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Awards Gala. The award is presented to young talented songwriters who are making an impact on the music industry. The award was presented to Drake by producer Jimmy Jam who praised the gifted artist for his writing skills and ability to merge singing and rapping in his music. Drake dedicated the award to his mother and later tweeted, “Just won the most incredible award and performed for my mother…a year ago today she was being wheeled into a surgery room…I love you.” Congratulations Drake!!!
