Actor Idris Elba seems to broadening his horizons when it comes to the roles he plays on the big screen. Up next for the actor, whose career seems to be propelling upward, is a leading role in the sci-fi film Pacific Rim.

     Elba will play the character “Sensi” and co-star alongside Son of Anarchy’s star Charlie Hunnam. While very few details about the film itself has been released, we do know that the storyline revolves around an alien attack on Earth in which giant robots operated by humans are used to fight them off. Pacific Rim will be directed by Guillermo del Toro and is scheduled to be released in 2013.

     We can’t wait to see how Elba does in this role. This role seems to be on the other side of the spectrum in regards to what we’ve seen from him in Daddy’s Little Girls, Obsessed and Takers.
