Foul on the Play: Usain Bolt’s False Start janda Tuesday, August 30, 2011 Foul on the Play, The Game Photo: FoxSports While many sat in the stands highly anticipating another stunning performance by defending champion Usain Bolt in the men’s 100-meter final Sunday at the World Championships in South Korea, none anticipated that he’d never make it to the finish line. Forfeiting a chance at another gold medal, Bolt was disqualified for a false start after moving out of his starting blocks before the gun sounded. Clearly disgusted by his actions, Bolt ripped off his shirt while being led away by officials leaving the crowd in shock. Bolt’s training partner, Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, went on to take the gold running his season-best at 9.92 second and also became the youngest world champion at 21. American Walter Dix took silver and Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis claimed the bronze. Never fear though, all is not lost for Bolt! He still has the 200-meter and a leg of the 400-meter relay to race to run during the championships. Hopefully then he won’t try to be ahead of the gang until the race actually starts!
