Album Review: Pac Div – The Div admin Tuesday, November 15, 2011 The Studio 2 Comments After they came hard with their Mania! mixtape, there wasn’t much you could tell me about Pac Div. I knew that they were going to be making more and more dope music for a while. Yet, I also had a sense that they weren’t going to be signed to a major for too long. Seeing that their label didn’t take advantage of “Anti-Freeze”, I knew their time was limited. Since their incumbent release, they now have a chance to satiate the salivating followers out there with The Div. If anyone knows anything about Pac Div is that they don’t make one type of song. The group can easily create a Hindu sounding sampled-bouncy song like “Posted” and turn around with a positive sounding song like “High Five”. Their whole iteniary is to make positive, yet crazily fun loving music. So, a listener can’t be surprised if they hear a Hennessy infused song like “Brown” and turn around to make a female oriented jam like “She”. When you get Pac Div, you get pacifying diversity (pun intended). What really impressed me was the growth in sound by their more mellow/serious songs. “The Greatness” is so thorough with its No ID composed sound bed. The piano stabs and bass line would make anyone want to sing the chorus about “you’re on to something great”! The most intimate song “Chaos (The Recipe)” speaks on the ills of society and the personal issues caused by those tribulations. From harsh break ups to even a heavily depressed female, the crew gives the idea of situations that cause chaos. Within all the fun loving and positivity, they can easily show some deep rooted momentousness. The Div is an album that was considerably made to be enjoyed and loved. For the most part, the trio work to keep things light hearted and festive. Yet, when they come serious they are truly grim. Many listeners need to embrace the newly liberated Pac Div. Regardless of label homes, The Div is an album worthy of praise and plenty of listens. Article written by Mark A.
