According to TMZ, legendary producer and playwright Kenny Leon has been developing a theater production inspired by the music of the late Tupac Shakur. The play, which is not based on the rapper’s life, is about two childhood friends in the Midwest and their extended families. The musical titled “Holler If You Hear Me” was recently previewed by Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur.

Good news is that Afeni loved the rough draft and approved Leon to move forward with the project.

No set date on when the play will hit broadway, but casting will soon start.
