Quote Love: Michelle Obama’s Speech @ Democratic National Convention 2012 Ms. Bels Thursday, September 6, 2012 The Receipt, The Script My favorite quote of the night “…reach back and give others the same chances you had to succeed”, was spoken so passionately by the First Lady Michelle Obama during Tuesday nights Democratic National Convention. With conviction and enduring respect, all of those in attendance (and the millions that tuned in) were captured by her spirit, her love of President Barack Obama and the United States of America. While Michelle traveled down memory lane, like speaking on their struggle as young lovers, the First Lady words touched families worldwide. Her speech was more like a continuous Hallmark card. Not choosing to give direct opinions on topics up for debate (such as healthcare reform), Michelle used her 20 minutes or so to express her family background and the values they share. Within each sentence she spoke, all that listened could snatch several great quotes to Tweet or Facebook about. In case you missed it, here are few standout quotes I love: “Well, today, after so many struggles and triumphs and moments that have tested my husband in ways I never could have imagined, I have seen firsthand that being president doesn’t change who you are. No, it reveals who you are.” “And believe it or not, when we were first married, our combined monthly student loan bill was actually higher than our mortgage. We were so young, so in love, and so in debt. That’s why Barack has fought so hard to increase student aid and keep interest rates down, because he wants every young person to fulfill their promise and be able to attend college without a mountain of debt.” “Barack knows the American Dream because he’s lived it, and he wants everyone in this country to have the same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we’re from, or what we look like, or who we love.” To see Michelle Obama in her entirety, check out the video… Source: AP
