Talk about bad luck…

Antonia Rojas, a 26 year old Brooklyn native, felt the impacts of Hurricane Sandy in more ways than one. According to reports, Rojas home and car was destroyed by the storm. He was without power and a landline phone. And the company he worked for fired him for not showing up.  Isn’t that about a b–ch!

Via limited battery life on his cell phone, Rojas claims that he contacted several people at the company and told him about his situation.

“We had no power and no landline. But before my cell phone conked out, I sent two texts to coworkers about my situation,” said Rojas. “I was stuck all day Tuesday in my house and I had no way to get in touch with the company.”

Unfortunately, the day after the storm he was able to contact his manager, but it was too late.  Rojas was told not to return since he hadn’t bothered contacting them to let them know he would not be coming into work.  So, Rojas has now filed a lawsuit against Academy Fire Protection company.  According to his employment attorneys, Rojas says the company alerted employees just hours before the storm that they would not have to come to work the next day.

The company has not released a statement.
