Look who’s back…the Baddest B*tch aka Diamond Princess!

 

The Miami rapper has had a long-standing run in the music game. Coming onto the scene in the late 90’s, her sexually charged project Da Baddest B*tch became an instant classic.  What separated Trina from other female rappers like Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, is that she was wayyyy more blunt about taboo topics and she represented the South.  Since that time, she’s released numerous mixtapes and four studio albums all garnering decent record sales.  Now, she’s back.

 

In conjuction with her December 3 birthday, Trina released her highly anticipated mixtape Back 2 Business.  The mixtape is executive produced by French Montana and features Slim Thug, Dorrough, Nisha, Brianna, DJ Khaled, Iceberg, Shonie, and Privaledge.  Click here to download a copy.

 

After taking a listen to B2B, I am pleasantly surprised. Personally, I appreciate the fact that the content is reminiscent of the “old” Trina.  Popping bottles, making major business moves, stylin in the best garments and cars, etc if you’re that type of female that can relate, then this is the mixtape you want to ride out to. My favorites on the mixtape are “Shits Real”, “I Fucks With U”, “Scream”, and “Beam” (which is a nice touch with the live instruments…I’d even like to see her perform with a live band one day).

 

As the prerequisite to her sixth album, Back 2 Business shows she still got what it takes to hold her spot in hip hop. Now that she is no longer with Slip-N-Slide Records it’s going to interesting to see if any majors will want to sign her.  Nevertheless, if she does the major label route again or not, Trina still gets money doing shows. Also, she’s made guest appearances on various reality shows and will star as co-host on the upcoming “Tiny Tonight” on VH1. So, yeah…Trina still getting that paper.
