Jennifer Hudson Tackles Mental Illness In Lifetime’s “Call Me Crazy” [Trailer] Ms. Bels Friday, April 19, 2013 5-4-3-2-1, The Script, Tune In Jennifer Hudson continues her pursuit as a highly recognized actress in a upcoming Lifetime film. She will star as “Maggie” in “Call Me Crazy: A Five Film” where she plays a woman suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder. As a female veteran returning home from the military, Jennifer’s family (her son and father, Ernie Hudson) faces difficulties dealing with her illness. “Call Me Crazy” is a second installment in the Five franchise, which launched in 2011. It consists of five short films all of which will deal with mental illness issues of five characters: Maggie, Lucy, Eddie, Allison, and Grace. In the “Lucy” short, Academy award winner Octavia Spencer will play a psychotherapist name “Dr. Nance”. Dr. Nance will assist a schizophrenic name Lucy (played by Deirdre O’Connor) during her stay in a mental institution. Also, the film “Eddie” will focus on the depression-filled life of a comedian who becomes overwhelmed with sadness. “Eddie” will be played by actor James Avery. “Call Me Crazy: A Five Film” airs Saturday, April 20 at 8pm on Lifetime.
