Donell Jones Brings Back the “Art of Storyteling” w/New Album ‘Forever’ Ms. Bels Thursday, July 11, 2013 The Studio 1 Comment If you were old enough and present during the 90’s music era, then you’ve heard of Donell Jones. Jones, who had some of the hottest R&B songs during that time, is back and bringing his classic sound with him. His new project ‘Forever’ is his seventh studio album and was released on July 9. The album features 12-tracks that embodies that timeless R&B that you can play 20 years from now and it will still sound current. Jones has always been known as one of the leaders of contemporary R&B. In 1996, he released his first project ‘My Heart’ on LaFace Records. He went on to become a platinum-selling singer with several hits under his belt. Although, he’s never quite made it to “mega-star” status, his peers and fans have always respected him. On this new project, his lead single “Forever” is a nice song about the inspiration that love brings. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Jones shared his thoughts on present-day R&B and if it lacked the sentimental value it once had. “I think R&B is missing the art of storytelling. And the art of storytelling through videos. That’s what we use to have. I think nowadays what the problem is, back in the days we used to have all the different singer-songwriter producers and once we heard their record you knew exactly who it was. Nowadays a lot of the younger artists are going to the same producers, and that’s what’s making the record sound the same. You don’t have a variety of different sounds out there, so when you get a chance to hear something that’s really good you go, “oh wow, I like that sh*t. That’s different.” Different is good now.” Tracklist: 1. New Beginning 2. Forever 3. Closer I Get to You 4. Beautiful 5. Don’t Blame Me 6. You Know 7. I Miss the King 8. Sorry I Hurt You 9.
