No hate toward the individuals who sign up for these shows in order to advance their careers, but reality television is overrated. In addition to being overrated, the business has succumb to the negativity so much so that we can’t even watch positive shows without labeling them as “boring.”  One city, in particular, is the southern version of Hollywood that many actors and actresses are relocating to. This city is Atlanta.  Over the past 15 years, the city has grown into this spectacle of hot nightclubs and big business. Atlanta has also become a haven for film/tv production projects.

To help the Georgia economy, the state decided to give tax breaks to film companies. With this came an on-slot of new state-of-the-art production facilities which allowed filmmakers and directors to bring their visions to life.  This also led the way for several reality shows to hit the city. The craze started out exciting and entertaining. Now, since more shows are being produced here, it’s has become a bit too much. People, such as myself, are getting tired of seeing Atlanta in the spotlight.

ATL, out of the spotlight…yeah right.  That won’t be happening anytime soon. Bravo and VH1, for instance, are bringing new Atlanta-based shows to television by 2014. From what is being said thus far, “The New Atlanta” (formerly titled “Taking Atlanta”) and “Hollywood Exes: ATL” are both suppose to show cast members who are pursuing careers and making the most out of their life. Some may consider this as “positive” television, but we all know there will be a bit of drama.  Drama brings the ratings. Atlanta is the breeding ground for foolery nowadays.  So it is going to be interesting to see how these shows fare in comparison to other high-rated shows (i.e. “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, “Married to Medicine”, “Love & Hip Hop ATL”, etc).

In case you are wondering what both shows are about, check out what the blogs are saying:

According to BravoTV.com

Over the course of Season One, The New Atlanta will follow five of the city’s trailblazers as they strive to achieve their dreams, search for love, and find resolutions to heartbreaks from the past. Fighting their way to the top, each hopes to make their mark in the cutthroat industries of fashion, music, event planning and business while taking advantage of Atlanta’s hot social scene.

So who are these movers-and-shakers? Meet the cast of the show below:

Africa Miranda

A triple threat—actress, singer and model—Africa Miranda is turning heads in Atlanta. Co-creator of the live concept show “The Lipstick Junkies” and the face of several international hair campaigns, her sultry voice and lovely locks have put her front and center in Atlanta’s entertainment industry.

Alexandra Dilworth

A recent college grad, Alexandra is seen and heard in Atlanta’s hot Electronic Dance Music scene. She is a self-proclaimed “daddy’s girl” on the look-out for a husband who will be able to accommodate her current luxurious lifestyle.

Emily Lipman

Emily has the looks of the girl next door, but is a force to be reckoned with on her hunt for love. A successful boutique owner, she has quickly emerged as a new leader in Atlanta’s growing fashion industry.

Jevon “Vawn” Sims

Vawn is known in Atlanta’s bustling music industry as the “Go-to-Guy” for artist development and discovering new raw talent. Now writing a book promoting his theories on love and romance, this “bad boy” with “good boy” qualities talks about relationships like never before. His tell-it-like-it-is attitude is one that you will either love or hate.

Tribble Reese

A partner in an event promotion company, Tribble always has the scoop on the hottest parties in town. An up-and-comer in Atlanta’s entertainment industry, this former arena football quarterback knows what it takes to score on the field but is also looking for a touchdown in love.

Apparently, Vh1 is gearing up for a second installment of the “Hollywood Exes” franchise.  When the ladies of Los Angeles are off-season, there soon may be a group of Atlanta women who’s going to give viewers exactly what they need.

According to Michelle Brown of StraightfromtheA.com, several sources are saying that Atlanta’s version will have several well-known ladies on the cast. A few members of the cast were apart of ,at some point or another, a very high-profile relationship.  Their tumultuous relationships are what made these ladies “somewhat” of a household name.  Between the storyline and the celebrity they were married/dated to, this will MOST DEFINITELY make good TV.

Here’s a list of the ladies that is in talks to do the show:

Sheree Buchanan (Ex-wife of former Falcons player Ray Buchanan), Christina Johnson (Ex Wife of Cee-Lo Green), Tameka Foster Raymond (Ex-Wife of Usher Raymond), Kim Elba (Ex-wife of Idris Elba), Monica Ambrose (ex-wife of Ashley Ambrose, a former NFL baller who played for several teams including the Atlanta Falcons) and Monyetta Shaw (Ex Fiance’ of Ne-Yo).
