Is it just me? Or did the performances and cyphers overshadow the actual award giving segments? It seems as though so much focus is on the cyphers now that BET is no longer airing people getting awards. Is it because some artists don’t show up to the ceremony? Or is it because this leaves more time for things people actually like to see (i.e. performances)? Hmmm… whatever is the case, I think BET is spending too much money on this particular awards show. Hip Hop can actually be incorporated with the regular BET Awards program. This will cut cost and become much more of a spectacle for viewers and attendees. This is just my opinion.
Anyway, yes there were winners during last nights BET Hip Hop Awards 2013. Kendrick Lamar was the big winner with a total of five awards. In second was Drake with 4. MC Lyte was honored with the “I Am Hip Hop” award for her contributions to the culture. Uncle Snoop pulled it all in together with his funny-yet-laid back style of hosting the show. There were performances by 2 Chainz, Diddy, Rick Ross, Rocko, Yo Gotti, TDE, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, and French Montana. But the highlight of course were the cyphers.
In case you were like me and totally missed seeing who all won awards, below is the complete of 2013 winners.
