Exclusive: Michelle Williams Gives Riveting Performance in Decatur, GA & Reveals Plenty During Press Meet-n-Greet admin Monday, November 25, 2013 Studio Xclusive, The Studio, The Vault Michelle Williams & Dameon Daniels (STACKS Mag) Michelle Williams, one-third member of the popular girls group Destiny’s Child gave an incredible performance at the Atrium House of Hope in Decatur, GA. Michelle performed two songs from her new highly anticipated 2014 gospel album Journey to Freedom. Not only did Michelle perform her first single “If We Had Your Eyes” and “Fire” but she also shared her story and appreciation for everything God has blessed her with. Michelle Williams, a native of Rockford, Illinois, began her journey in the church. She jokingly shared with the audience that she attended services at minimum 3 to 4 times a week. She gives credit to her humble beginnings because it made her the humble and ambitious woman she is today. Her professional musical career started after she left college to pursue her dream and was offered to tour and sing background with R&B vocalist Monica. She later auditioned for the group Destiny’s Child in 2009 and the rest was history. Being a “church girl”, Michelle stated that she was criticized by many but she understood that her gift was from God and as long as he understood she would continue to persevere. She stated that she became happier and more content in her life after she realized that she couldn’t make everybody happy. Michelle also stated that she has a solid foundation which has allowed her to stay humble and grounded even with all the fame. In addition to her music, she has had the opportunity to star in TV and Broadway in such plays “Aida” and “The Color Purple” just to name a few. When asked would she ever pursue film, she stated that she wanted to be able to focus on one thing at a time and take all of it in before she decided to jump into other ventures. Michelle is most thankful for having the opportunity to share her gift and talent with the world and the people she loves and adores such as members of the Destiny’s Child and family. She is super excited about the holidays and most of all the good food that comes along with it – she made special reference to the candy yams minus the marshmallow’s.
