The flashy sh*t talking mentee of Floyd Mayweather, Adrien Broner, received an embarrassing blow to his boxing career over the weekend. In a fight for welterweight world title, Argentina’s Marcos Maidana served up several hard hitting blows to Broner, which led to his unanimous win. All the judges scored for Maidana (117-110, 116-109, 115-100). From the gate, Maidana went gunning for Broner. He landed over 26 hits in just one round alone. Broner was clearly not prepared for such a powerful fighter like Maidana. He suffered several knock downs and a head butt throughout the fight.
After refusal to speak in the ring after his loss, Broner later was interviewed on Showtime expressing his disappointment in the loss.
“All I can do is go back to the drawing board and come back and fight my ass off,” Broner said. “I’m OK. Things happen. I fought a helluva fight, but he was the better man tonight. We can rematch it anytime.”
