His heroic, inspiring, and courageous spirit was the foundation in which his legacy stood on. After spending 27 years behind bars for leading the anti-apartheid revolution, Mandela not once buckled under pressure from government. His battle to end the social injustices within South Africa was met with reward in 1994. That year marked the end of apartheid. Even before and after his presidency (1994-1999), Mandela keen insight on the movement and its affect on the nation was expressed many times through numerous speeches. He became a well-respected man worldwide because of his strength and ability to overcome many adversities. Mandela’s life was extraordinary.
