After moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 2005, she attended Concorde Career Institute of Jacksonville for Medical Assisting and graduated in 2006. At this point, she started taking her makeup work seriously and decided to move her family and company to Atlanta, GA to pursue her dreams of becoming a makeup artist for film, print, video, TV, photo shoots, etc. As well, Mee’kyah Lee teaches the art of makeup to many people through her channel on Youtube. She is amazed at how far she has come even through tough times, many obstacles and yet she knows she still have a long way to go. This is why she remains humble and always grateful. Tell us about your ModelFace™ Makeup business. How long have you been doing makeup for? ModelFace™ Makeup is one makeup artist that sees all of her clients as models and creates face art with makeup. Did you take any specific training to become a makeup artist? I can do all types of makeup from bridal to some special effects makeup. But, if I had to pick one, it would be glamour makeup. I am a self-taught makeup artist. What do you feel separates your work from others? I am a very creative makeup artist who doubles as a model. What are the pros and cons of being a model and makeup artist? PROS: I can do whatever type of creative, artistic makeup for my shoots and save money. CONS: When I am the model for a job and they need a makeup artist at the last minute. Have you had any celebrity clients? If so, who and how was the experience working with them? Not yet, hopefully soon. What is your biggest accomplishment in both fields of work? The cover of an online published magazine showcasing my work as a makeup artist and model. Never saw that coming.
