The cable network announced that the series will be ending after its 5th season. The show gained worldwide admiration from lovers of classic prohibition-era gangster flicks. “Boardwalk Empire” centered around Atlantic City, New Jersey and its participation in prohibition. Steve Buscemi aka “Nucky Thompson”, whose wheeling and dealings in illegal alcohol distribution, corruption, murder, and gambling, is the main character in which everyone else’s lives revolve. This past September, “Boardwalk Empire” took home five Emmy awards: Best Supporting Actor – Drama Series (Bobby Cannavale for his role as “Gyp Rosetti), Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series. The show’s creator Terry Winter didn’t give details as to why the series is ending. However, the Associated Press reports that Winter says we can expect a “powerful and exciting conclusion”.
