@MoneySmartATL Announces $2K Youth Essay Contest for Money Smart Week® (April 5-12) admin Friday, February 7, 2014 The Connect, The Receipt, Your Money and You Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign to promote financial literacy across all age groups. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the American Library Association and the Financial Planning Association. The goal is to connect the institutions and organizations that provide financial education and information to the people who need it. The committee is in search of organizations that would like to partner with the campaign, and include your educational workshops and activities in this effort. To enter, eligible students in middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) can go to www.moneysmartweek.org/ms_kids_contest to complete the application and 300 word essay by Feb. 28 (at 5PM). The winner and runner-up of each age group will be selected to attend the Money Smart Kick-Off luncheon on April 7th hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to the winner and a $500 scholarship to the runner-up of each age group. The winners will be named this year’s Money Smart Kid and Money Smart Teen, and have the chance to spend the year as a Greater Atlanta financial literacy ambassador.
