The Atlanta Hawks played their first season in Atlanta in 1968. They played the inaugural season in the NBA as the Buffalo Bisons in 1946. The Hawks played in three different cities before finding a permanent home here in Atlanta. The Hawks have worn at least 10 different jerseys since moving to the ATL and I will discuss the top three they worn.
The Hawks blue and neon green jerseys I would rank third. These jerseys were worn from 1970-72. “Pistol” Pete Maravich was drafted by the Hawks with the third pick in the 1970 NBA Draft and the Hawks started wearing these jerseys Maravich’s Rookie season. Walt Bellamy and Lou Hudson also wore these jerseys during that era. Hudson number 23 jersey is retired by the Hawks now. Lou Hudson was a NBA All-Star for both years these jerseys were worn and the Hawks did reach the playoffs each year in these jerseys.
