Lupita Nyong’o Becomes 7th Black Women to Win Oscar + ’12 Years A Slave’ Wins Best Picture admin Monday, March 3, 2014 5-4-3-2-1, The Script The 86th Academy Awards went underway last night. Hosted by comedian, Ellen Degeneres, the Oscars brought out the brightest stars as the Academy honored those who did an outstanding job in film. What was deemed as a precedented evening, the movie 12 Years A Slave took home two top honors. Its director/producer, Steve McQueen became the first Black director and producer to win Best Picture. Also, the films shining young starlet Lupita Nyong’o became the 7th Black actress EVER to win Best Actress in a Supporting Role (12 Years A Slave). Special congratulations to McQueen and Nyongo on their wins.
