The NBA Commissioner held a press conference yesterday to discuss the future of LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. In the recent week, Sterling was accused of making racist remarks about Blacks and Magic Johnson. The audio was leaked by his girlfriend, Stiviano.

Commissioner Adam Silver stated,

“The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. I am personally distraught that the views expressed by Mr. Sterling came from within an institution that has historically taken such a leadership role in matters of race relations.

To [the players] and pioneers of the game, in particular Magic Johnson, I apologize.

Effective immediately, I am banning Mr. Sterling from the NBA for life.

Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices. He may not be present at any Clippers facilities and he will also be barred from attending NBA board meetings.

I am also fining Mr. Sterling 2.5 million, the maximum amount allowed under the NBA Constitution.”

In addition, Silver states that Sterling may be forced to sell the Clippers franchise, which is being eyed by Magic Johnson and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Although this seems like a reasonable way to handle Sterling, will it really have any affect on the old man?

What do you think of the NBA’s decision?
