With the desire to increase programming, the company need the extra revenue to purchase more original shows. The $9 rate went into affect on Friday, May 9th. For the 36 million people who are already subscribers, the monthly rate of $8 will remain for two years. After two years, the monthly service fee will cost a dollar more ($9) for ALL subscribers. Netflix offers two original programs via their service, “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black”. With these programs and the inclusion of more in the future, Netflix will ultimately become the HBO of the Internet. Speaking of “Orange is the New Black“, the ladies of Litchfield will be returning for a second season on June 6. To celebrate the occasion, Netflix released never-seen-before character posters Alex, Nicky, Sophia, Lorna, and Big Boo.
