Angie Martinez Says “Lack of Growth Potential” Was Reason She Left Hot 97

There always comes a time at a job when you’ve put in more than enough work and you realize that you’re not going anywhere. Well, that apparently that may have been the case with the “Voice of Hip-Hop” Angie Martinez.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Martinez states that it was the growth potential or lack thereof that led her to resign from her position at Hot 97FM in New York.

The thing is about the move – it’s not just going down the dial. It’s about joining a team and a company that really offers me all kinds of growth potential.

She went on to say that her decision was amicable and that she had to remove all emotions when making her final decision.

Angie Martinez is now apart of the Power 105.1 and 103.5 The Beat family.  As for her old job, Cipha Sounds has since been named as her official replacement on the 3:00 PM Est slot.
