It is about time an employer sees fit to contribute “generously” to their employees education.

Starbucks recently announced a new program that will help its employees earn an online college degree. The coffee-house conglomerate has teamed up with Arizona State University, which is a$10,000 per year school. The new program will assist 135,000 employees that work no less than 20 hours per week.

For freshman and sophomore years, students would pay a greatly reduced tuition after factoring in a scholarship from Starbucks, ASU and financial aid, such as Pell grants. For junior and senior years, Starbucks would reimburse any money that workers pay out of pocket.

That means employees who already have two years of college under their belts would be able to finish school at no cost. (AP)

The great thing about the program is that employees can choose from various majors and will not be forced to stay at Starbucks after they receive a degree. This is unique in that most large companies require their employees to put in up to 5 more years at the workplace.
