HomeFeatureMusic Review: Blitz The Ambassador (@blitzambassador) – Afropolitan Dreams Mark Harris Monday, July 14, 2014 Feature, Music, The Studio Blitz The Ambassador is one of the most world renowned unknown artists in hip hop. Although he has made waves across the world, not many know about him in the Midwest. The same rapper that inspired Beyond Race Magazine to feature him in 2009 has been virtually ignored by labels. Still, he keeps making the music he believes in. As such, Afropolitan Dreams is a culmination of that struggle documented in enthralling hip hop music. In actuality, this album is a synopsis of his arrival to America to search for those “Afropolitan Dreams”. “Arrival” starts off with a voice of an announcer noting that the Brooklyn Bridge stop was coming up and evolves into a song about work and the meaningful struggle. With songs like “Dollar And A Dream”, he documents the days of his youth in Ghana dreaming of being a rapper and what it evolved into. The album ventures into other notable tracks like “Success”, the Rob Base sampling “Internationally Known”, and the love infused tracks “Love On The Run” and “Call Waiting”. Thoroughly and decidedly, Blitz shares with the world the ins and outs of him working toward his success. Yet, he continues on and does not miss a step throughout the album. “All Around the World” lets him get loose as he lets everyone know about his globetrotting ways. While he lets us know that “Africa Is The Future”, he still pleads for everyone to “Make You Not Forget” where they are from. By the time “Departure” arrives, there is a pure understanding of what he was trying to convey: the life of an international emcee. In the end, this is a strong album that infuses worldly sounds within hip hop that is more human than braggadocio and fantasy. With a live sound that uses very few samples, features from African artists, and an enjoyment of life, Blitz The Ambassador actually wins. He strives to make a good album. What ends up happening is that the album becomes great. Hopefully, the U.S. will appreciate what the world already loves: Blitz and his brand of hip hop.
