One of the most anticipated films of the year hit the theaters last Friday (July 18).  Promotional efforts leading up the film’s release was done on a grand scale due to the success of first installment of The Purge.  As most newbies in the film industry would boast at the opportunity to be featured in ads for a motion picture, one cast mate wasn’t too happy.

As TMZ reports, Emmanuel Howell spent 5 days on the The Purge: Anarchy shoot as an extra. He was paid a little under $1,000. Thinking he’d only be featured in background shots, Howell was surprised when he saw his face on billboards.

After venting his frustration to heads of production, he was shot down when he request additional monies for the usage of his likeliness. Purge producers said he should be thankful for the opportunity to be the face of the film.

Howell has reached out to several attorneys whom all have told him he has no case.

Poor Emmanuel…maybe he will read the fine print more carefully.  We’re sure contract agreements for extras include stipulations that give film producers full rights to character portrayals (for use in any type of marketing/promotional advertising).

In other The Purge: Anarchy news, the weekend totals are out. The film has reported grossed an estimated $28.4 million in the box office.
