9 year-old Groom + 62 year-old Bride =Happy Ancestors….

Traditions are big in many cultures and some people believe in not breaking those traditions.

In the case of a South African family, this tradition has sparked a lot of controversy and has some people questioning 9 year-old Saneie Masilela and 62 year old Helen Shabangu. Masilela stated that he had heard from the ancestors and commanded that he get married and his bride Helen Shabangu agreed to be his wife for the second time.

The boy stated:

“I told my mother that I wanted to get married because I really did want to. I’m happy that I married Helen – but I will go to school and study hard. When I’m older I will marry a lady my own age. I chose Helen because I love her and, although we don’t live together all the time, we meet at the dumping site where my mother works regularly.”

Helen Shabangu is currently married to Alfred Shabangu and they have five children together.
