The Mercury improved to a league best 27-4, clinched the number one seed in the West and have home-court advantage throughout the WNBA playoffs. Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner both scored 14 points for the Mercury, Griner had a team-high 11 rebounds and game-high 3 blocks. Penny Taylor and Erin Phillips each had 11 points for the Mercury. Phoenix made 50% of their field goals and 50% of their three-pointers against the Liberty. The Mercury have won five games in a row and have the longest current winning streak in the WNBA. Tina Charles had 26 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs for the Liberty. Charles didn’t get much help from the rest of her teammates, only 2 out of the 11 players on the Liberty shot 50% or higher from the field. Cappie Pondexter had 12 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for the Liberty. Charles and Pondexter were the only players to score in double-figures for New York. The Liberty only made 28 out of 76 of their field goals and shot 36.8% from the field. The Liberty are now 13-18, remains the fourth seed in the East and have lost two games in a row.
