HomeFeatureMiami Heat Releases Veteran Guard, Shannon Brown Abner Jackson III Wednesday, November 26, 2014 Feature, Sports, The Game The Miami Heat released Guard Shannon Brown on November 23rd after appearing in five games this season with Miami. Brown started two of those games due to Guard Dwyane Wade being injured. Brown only averaged 4 points in 17.8 minutes a game and had a non-guaranteed contract with Miami. The Heat signed Center Hassan Whiteside after waiving Brown. Forward/Center Chris Andersen was injured Sunday in a victory against the Charlotte Hornets and the Heat needed more depth at the Center position. Brown only appeared in 29 games last season splitting time with the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks. Brown hasn’t played more than 30 games with a team since the 2012-13 season when he appeared in 59 games with the Phoenix Suns. Brown is an eight-year veteran and two-time NBA champion, so his veteran leadership and services should be needed again this season.
