Dr. Dre Tops List of Highest Paid Musicians, Beyonce Out-Earns Jay Z

Accordingly, Forbes announced their annual list of highest-paid musicians with Dr. Dre landing in the no. 1 spot.

The 49-year old multi-platinum producer tops the list due to $620 million earned in 2014, which is mainly due to the sale of Beats by Dre to Apple for $3 billion. In 2013, Dr. Dre earned a mere $40 million but still remained one of Forbe’s Top 5 Cash Kings.

The beloved Carter’s found themselves in an awkward “battle of the sexes” type situation. Forbes ranked Beyonce as second highest paid musician just behind Dre, earning $115 million in 2014. Numerous endorsements, the sold out world tour, and her surprise self-titled album put King Bey way ahead of husband, Jay Z.

Jay Z, on the other hand, tied up at no. 12 with P. Diddy. Both New York natives earned $60 million this year.
