The Ratchet Report: Being a Black Man in America, The New Social Injustice

This week, we are going to take a break from the gossip and rumors and instead focus on real life issues. This is still The Ratchet Report, but this piece is intended to focus on the real “ratchetness” that has been going on for years and has truly gotten out of hand. It’s sad and unfortunate when the law gives animals more rights than a black man in America. Now let’s be clear, I`m not writing this piece to make this a race issue, however, if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck , then it’s probably a duck.

America has spent trillions of dollars to go to war for other countries at the drop of a dime and will deploy our troops to protect others. However, the real war is in our own backyard. America’s brand is supposed to be “the land of the free and the brave,” but it’s turned into the land of the “contradiction.”  There are several races that have died, peacefully marched, and voted for equal rights, justice and peace. Lately, it seems that has partially been all in vain.

Dr. King was one of the world’s greatest leaders and advocates for Equality and Social Change, but was gunned down for believing this nation had the potential to change. Dr. King didn’t get a chance to see his kids grow up because he believed that everybody deserved to be treated equally. It’s unfortunate that he had to sacrifice his life for his dream that recently has turned into a nightmare for the Black man in America.

Over the past few months, several Black men in America have been killed and no convictions or indictments have been made. The sad part about this situation is that the Black men that were murdered were killed by the people that we pay through taxes to protect and serve. Now don’t get me wrong – not all cops are bad cops – but a line should be drawn when we come across those that violate a human being in the worst way possible.

Does the color of a persons skin dictate the type of force or course of action an officer should take? Are officers trained to only use excessive deadly force with Black men? I can’t answer those questions, but my assumption is NO because the laws are meant to “protect and serve” not “shoot or choke to kill if you’re a Black man in America.”

Black men in America aren’t trying to play the victim role , but it’s clear that there are no laws to protect us and things must change and fast.
