Ex-Wife of Oil Tycoon, Harold Hamm, Rejects $975M Divorce Check

The ex-wife of oil tycoon, Harold Hamm, may very well become the richest woman in the world if the court rules in her favor.

On Tuesday, news spread quickly about a hand-written check made out to Sue Ann Arnall (birth name) in the amount of $974, 790, 317.77.  Apparently,  her ex-husband Hamm wrote the check in efforts to settle their November divorce ruling. Arnall, however, rejected the check.

Arnall’s lawyers say that she’s being low-balled with $1 billion and deserves her fair share, which is valued up to $18 billion.

The recent decline in oil prices has severely decreased the company’s stock value. Hamm has reportedly lost billions in its fall and will also appeal the decision. He contends that the $1 billion settlement was WAY too much considering the current state of his fortune. Plus, he’s already paid Arnall over $20 million throughout their divorce proceedings.

Both parties’ appeals will be heard by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
