Bae? What is the definition of a bae? How is bae status determined? Is it one-sided or must both agree on the terms of their “baeship”? This entire year, the term bae has been used as a term of less genuine endearment to claim a significant other who is not necessarily a boyfriend or girlfriend. Bae has become an acronym meaning “Before anyone else” and has been used to describe those in both committed relationships and less serious situationships. Whatever the case may be, bae is a term that has made its way into the vocabulary of all age ranges. This term is commonly used and at times can make relationships more complicated than they need to be, which is why the concept of bae should be left in 2014. Bringing a word that holds so much uncertainty into the New Year is definitely a no-no.
