Nasir Jones aka Nas is not the IRS’s favorite rapper as of right now. Why? Because word is that he owes the Georgia Department of Revenue six figures. Let’s hope that the new movie he is executive producing generate enough coins to pay off his tax debt. Rapper Nas is in the hot seat for an unpaid tax debt in excess of $276,439.80. The Georgia Department of Revenue filed documents on April 3 stating that the agency could not find any assets belonging to Nas. Well, while the State of Georgia is on a manhunt for Nas’s assets, the Illmatic emcee continues to somehow invest in “potentially” profitable business ventures. Alongside journalist-turned-filmmaker, Adam Sjöberg, Nas has executive produced a new film Shake The Dust. The film explores the evolution of breakdancing and its impact on ghettos across the globe. Share The Dust is accompanied by a all-star music lineup. The film’s soundtrack includes music from Common, Talib Kweli, Nas, and others. The music, of course, is a major contribution to the dance-style. Therefore, the film highlights the most talented breakdance crews in the poorest urban neighborhoods of Colombia, Yemen, Uganda, and Cambodia, Sjöberg weaves together the stories of rappers, DJs, and b-boys across three continents, revealing how breakdancing today acts as a positive force for social change. Shake The Dust will be released theatrically on May 15th in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese Theater, followed by national, limited theatrical release.
