The city of Charlotte has been selected to host the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at the Time Warner Cable Arena, home of the Charlotte Hornets. The All-Star Game (ASG) will be held on February 19th and All-Star Weekend will start on February 17th. This will be Charlotte’s second time hosting the All-Star Game. The city hosted it back in 1991 at the Charlotte Coliseum, which is when Hornets Owner Michael Jordan returned to his home state and was the leading scorer in the 1991 All-Star Game. Hornets Associate Head Coach Patrick Ewing also played with Jordan on the Eastern Conference team back in 1991. If Golden State Warriors Guard Stephen Curry is selected to participate in the ASG, this will be a homecoming game for the MVP. Curry’s father Dell Curry played for the Hornets and Stephen grew up and went to college in the area. The ASG will definitely bring a boost to the Charlotte economy. It may have taken 26 years for All-Star Weekend to come back to Charlotte, but Charlotte will be the place to be that weekend and a lot of the big names celebrities will be there. The 2016 ASG will be held in Toronto, Canada.
