The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Karl-Anthony Towns with the number one overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Wolves selected the freshmen center out of the University of Kentucky that averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in only 21 minutes of action. The Los Angeles Lakers surprised most people when they selected freshmen guard D’Angelo Russell with the second pick. Russell averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists a game for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Philadelphia 76ers selected another center for third year in a row when they selected the freshmen from Duke Jahlil Okafor.

Okafor was projected to go to the Lakers until they decided to go small and draft a guard. Okafor averaged 17.3 points and 8.5 rebounds. The New York Knicks selected forward Kristaps Porzingis out of Latvia. Porzingis is an offensive-minded forward that likes to shoot and will need to get better as a defensive player. The Orlando Magic selected forward/guard Mario Hezonja from Croatia with the fifth overall pick. Hezonja has the ideal size for a wing player that can shoot, pass, and is very explosive for his size.
