HomeFeatureLil Wayne Confirms Artist Deal with Tidal admin Monday, June 15, 2015 Feature, Music, The Studio Over the weekend, Young Money CEO Lil Wayne made an impromptu announcement about signing with Jay Z. The announcement – during KMEL Summer Jam in Oakland, CA – wasn’t a surprise as there were rumors floating of his current connection with the Roc Nation founder. However, his spill at a concert left many wondering if he was officially a Roc Nation artist. Soon after the video footage was released on Instagram, Karen Civil and Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant quickly clarified the announcement. “The Internet and blogs took his words out of context,” Bryant tells Billboard. “When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal.” Lil Wayne is now one of the owners of Jay Z’s music subscription service Tidal. In June, Wayne released “Glory” exclusively through the service. Now that Wayne is on Tidal, fans want to know if a new album will be released as well. With the ongoing legal battle with Cash Money Records, it’s hard to say how that will affect his future projects.
