UPDATE: DeAndre Jordan May Return to Clippers

It has been reported that center DeAndre Jordan has had a change of heart regarding his free agency. The center agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a four-year $80 million contract. Jordan and the Mavs agreed on this deal on July 3rd and free agents can’t sign their new contract until July 9th. Jordan is leaning towards resigning with the Los Angeles Clippers, the team he has spent his whole career with. The deal is reportedly for five years and worth over $110 million.

It has been reported that Jordan isn’t answering Mavs owner Mark Cuban phone calls, so it’s a good chance Dallas will have to sign another center. Jordan was one of the top five free agents available this summer. Jordan wanted to sign with a team where he would be featured more in the offense and the Mavs promised him that. However, Jordan doesn’t have a post-game, most of his points are from offensive rebounds and the alley-oops that Chris Paul and Blake Griffin throw him.

Jordan does need Paul as a point guard to continue to get easy baskets. If Jordan does resign with the Clippers he will be very disliked in Dallas. If you agree to sign with a team you should stand by your commitment or at least call the team and apologize that you had a change of heart. Dallas missed out on other free agents due to one player.

We will see what happens once Jordan signs a contract with either team.

UPDATE:

DeAndre Jordan has officially signed on AGAIN to the L.A. Clippers team. According to reports, Jordan has agreed to a $84 million contract with the option to opt out in 3 years.
