Ramrod Keys Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charge

I am a dog lover and I understand the emotional connection that people have when it comes to their pets. Over the years animals have been getting more rights than humans and maybe they deserve most of those rights, but I don’t think Isaac Ashe thought about that.

Ashe is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after being arrested for tapping his dog snout shut and beating him. Tara Vickrey, a county-contracted animal control officer and executive director of the Marathon-based Safe Harbor Animal Rescue of the Keys, or SHARK, said she deemed the dog’s life was in danger.

If convicted Ashe could serve up to 5 years in jail however he is now out on a $5,000 bail. “The best news is that he surrendered the dog back to the Florida Keys SPCA,” Vickrey said. “And, hopefully we’ll find a good home for him this time.”
