HomeFeatureTy Lawson Traded to the Rockets Abner Jackson III Wednesday, July 22, 2015 Feature, Sports, The Game The Houston Rockets received point guard Ty Lawson in a trade with the Denver Nuggets. The Rockets traded away players Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson, Kostas Papanikolaou and a lottery protected first-round pick in 2016. The Nuggets trade their 2017 second-round pick to the Rockets. Lawson averaged 15.2 points, career-high 9.6 assists and 1.2 steals last season for the Nuggets. The Nuggets selected point guard Emmanuel Mudiay with the seventh pick in this year’s NBA Draft and after that the Nuggets decided to move in a different direction. Lawson was arrested last week on DUI charges and is currently in a 30-day residential treatment program. Lawson has been arrested twice this year for the same charge and the Nuggets management were already having issues with him before his arrests. The Rockets now have two starting point guards and Lawson could possibly take the starting job from Patrick Beverly. The Western Conference is getting more competitive each week with the trades and free agent signings. The Rockets made it to the Western Conference Finals last season and hoping this trade can help them get back there again or make it to their first NBA Finals since 1995.
